Itinerary

: DAY 1

You will be picked up from your hotel or hostel in Arequipa’s city center at 3:00am and drive north to Chivay where you will eat breakfast.

We then head west to the Condor Cross located on the rim of the Colca Canyon. You will time to enjoy the views and look for condors flying overhead.

After visiting the Condor Cross, we will go to hike the Pre-Incan Madrigal Chimpa Fortress which sits high above the Colca Valley at 4,412 meters (14,475 feet). The Madrigal Fortress has kept watch over the lands below since about 1200 A.D. The exact history of the ruins remain a mystery to visitors and locals alike, but it is thought to have been the military fortress that divided the clashing collagua and cabana cultures of Pre-Incan times.

We will make our way back towards Chivay making stops at Antawilke to see pre-Incan terraces, a small colonial town called Maca, and the Yanque hotsprings to bathe in the hot pools for one hour.

Upon arriving to Chivay we will stop at a local restaurant to eat a buffet lunch.

We then head back towards Arequipa making two final stops along the way at Patapama and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. You will be dropped off back at your hotel around 5:30pm.
