Along the trail we will see the locals working the land using ancestral systems and techniques for agricultural production. Also we will get to see the famous qolqas, small deposits or stores carved into the cliffs of the surrounding mountains.
– After completing the hike to Uyo Uyo, we will go to the Yanque hot springs to bathe in the hot pools for approximately one hour.
– After relaxing in the hot springs we will head to Yanque to the home of a local family who will give us lodging. Tourists will have the opportunity to share a pleasant experience with their host family in order to learn a little more about their customs and way of life. A typical homemade dinner made of organic, local food from the Caylloma region will be served in the evening.
Day 2: Yanque – Cruz del Condor – Arequipa
– We will wake up at 6:00am to eat a traditional breakfast with our host family.
– Afterwards, we will enjoy a Folkloric Show in the Yanque main square featuring the typical dance of the region called Wititi and declared cultural heritage.
– After saying our goodbyes to our local host family, we will head west to the Condor Cross located on the rim of the Colca Canyon. You will have 45 minutes to enjoy the views and look for condors.
– We will then make our way back towards Chivay making stops at Antawilke to see pre-Incan terraces and a small colonial town called Maca.
– Upon arriving to Chivay we will stop at a local restaurant to eat lunch.
